Hi, I like to feedback on the rude manners for this Dr.Jamaliah Binte Meluru(MBBS-UiTM). Today, I had brought my friend to seek consultation at Klinik Kesihatan Sultan Ismail. It is located at Jalan Persiaran Mutiara Emas Utama, Taman Mount Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru. My friend was sick with heavy cough and flu inflammation. We reached the klinik at 4.30pm, was directed to register and taking blood test at various counters before ending up in consultation room 23. Jamaliah was the doctor attending to my friend.
My friend had been sick for the past 2 weeks, but got no choice and had to work to support her family. Until today, she was terribly ill and her supervisor asked her to see a doctor as customer complaining her illness and her coughing when she serve them. She is working as a beer promoter. I brought her to seek help at the klinik. Jamaliah had asked for her occupation during consultation.
When a patient is sick, she had to go see doctor and be put on medical leave and advised to rest at home if under serious condition. In Jamaliah's case, she refused to let her have any medical excuse, but instead asked her to wear a protection mask when she goes to work. May I asked, if I go to a eating place to drink or eat, when I saw the waiter or waitress serving me wearing a protection mask and coughing and running flu, would anyone order from him? And if so, what if the cough and flu germs spread to customer? Would it affect the business? What if she faint at work due to not enough resting while she's sick? Jamaliah informed that their klinik do not provide any medical certificate, and she can see my friend not having dengue and can walk around, and she can wear a protection mask when she's working. Does it mean only patient who are too sick to walk be given medical excuse? If that is the case, how can they walk to the klinik to see doctor? Does it mean only patient with dengue can be excused? Or patient who are too sick to walk be excused? What about those with heavy cough and flu, does it mean they carry on working even under medication, and spread their germs around? Take this case for example, my friend work in the food and drink industry. Now she still need to work, despite sickness, and risk spreading the germs to customer. If she do not report for work without any medical certificate, she will be deducted for her pay.
Is this the way a doctor should see their patient, some more towards a local Malaysian? What kind of ethics does this doctor has? Is this how the mentality of a doctor should be?
I hope that you can have a better education for this doctor. Get her to think outside the box. Any enquiry, you can contact me at lennon.a@yahoo.com
